Sculptures

Graham Knuttel's love for sculpture started back in his art school days, where in his final year, he focused on creating a series of whimsical wooden sculptures and mechanical pieces that felt straight out of a medieval workshop. He graduated in 1976, possibly having discovered his true artistic passion. But reality hit hard: "I couldn’t afford to do sculpture. In art school, you have everything, but when you leave, you don’t even have a hammer or chisel, and nowhere to work.” With limited resources, Knuttel turned to drawing - an art form that required little more than a paint and canvas. However, life has a funny way of coming full circle. As Knuttel's career progressed, he found himself drawn back to sculpture, and then with the means to fully explore it. It interested him the most. Sculpture, with its hands-on physicality and the challenge of bringing form to life, once again became a major focus of his artistic expression. From carving wood to casting bronze, Knuttel’s return to sculpture has added another dimension to his creative legacy.
